Profile

Buderim, located atop Buderim Mountain approximately 15km inland from Mooloolaba , derived its name from the Aboriginal word for Hairpin Honeysuckle - Badderam.  Buderim has evolved from a holiday destination to a bone fide desirable residential area over the past 10 years. Buderim Mountain offers spectacular sweeping views from a height of 180 meters from the Blackall Ranges across to the Glass House Mountains, taking in ocean views in the 360 degree panorama.

The majority of dwellings are brick and tile, single-detached houses as well as apartments, townhouses and some vacant land also available. There is also a mix of traditional and renovated Queenslanders. Buderim offers a range of property including acreage living, new residential developments, such as Rainforest Sanctuary and The Springs, and prestige property boasting uninterrupted views of the coast line. A large number of couples and retirees call Buderim home and it is little surprise given the plethora of facilities on offer. The area has a hospital, a number of schools, retirement villages & resorts, the Cooloola Sunshine Institute of TAFE and a university campus at nearby Sippy Downs.

There are a number of shopping facilities including a major shopping centre in neigbouring Maroochydore. Buderim has a variety of sporting facilities including Headland Golf Club, Elizabeth Park - which caters for basketball, netball, softball, cricket, croquet and lawn bowls; and Ballinger Park - home to Buderim's soccer club as well as hockey facilities. And for nature lovers there is the rainforest boardwalk through Buderim Forest Park as well as numerous other bike & walkways. Ginger once grew all over Buderim and was processed in the original Buderim Ginger Factory, which was built and operated in the heart of Buderim but is now located in Yandina. This scenic part of the Sunshine Coast features a charming town centre with specialty shops, restaurants, bed and breakfast establishments and several picnic spots in the forest and parks.
